Further Update on Testing…

HOME TAB IS NOW CSSS BLOG TAB. Starting to reshape the navigation tabs at the head of our blog, making it look more like a stand-alone web site, one that includes a blog as part of the site. You can access all posts and comments that have been added to our blog since the beginning by clicking on the CSSS Blog tab OR click on a link in the Categories, Recent Posts or Recent Comments shown in the right sidebar.

Also testing the addition of a photo, to confirm adding a photo to a page is the same as adding a photo to a post… it is! So IF you are familiar with doing this, it is like riding a bike… you never forget. If you have not yet added photos to a post or comment and would like some help, please let me know and I will guide you through the ‘how to’.

The results of my testing options for the CSSS Blog thus far is good news as the end result will be what the 40th Reunion Committee envisioned in early 2010… a web site that allows each of us to contribute and manage content!

If anyone has comments on where the testing on the CSSS Blog is heading and/or suggestions or ideas to incorporate into the CSSS Blog, which could become the CSSS web site proper, please send me an email.

Update on Testing…

SO FAR SO GOOD… it is showing promise that the CSSS Blog will work just fine for What’s New as ‘the’ page for our classmates to post news bytes.

What you see on this page is one approach to adding ‘news‘… the most recent news byte would be added above whatever exists on this page. By adding the date that a news byte is added, a title and a message that is the news byte, then sign yourself off and add the divider (* * * * *)… it’s done!

To the CSSS Class of 1970…

SOMETHING NEW TO NOTE ON THE CSSS BLOG… a What’s New tab next to the Home tab, plus an About Us tab to the right of What’s New. The About Us tab has a subpage drop down under it, to explore the potential of using WordPress as our ‘web engine’.

For the next while, I will be testing the CSSS Blog as ‘the‘ means to be the ‘news channel‘ for our graduating class via the What’s New page. If what I know and find out is confirmed through this test, then we will have a vehicle… a dedicated page for ALL grads with CSSS Blog accounts …to add news bytes to the What’s New page.

Please NOTE that a ‘page‘ in the blogging world is quite different from adding a ‘post‘ to a blog, with content being added to the existing page, not as a ‘post’ on that page. Comments are permitted, but asking classmates to hold off until I have completed my testing of the ‘page’ concept.

If all bodes well – as I know it will – we could migrate our complete web site over to WordPress… this would allow classmates to add a Grads Online page for themselves, and edit and manage this page as their information changes, as well as contribute to other pages that they are interested in.

More to come as I work this one through!
