2025 group photo of 45th CSSS Reunion

Report from Bruce Mackenzie

Pat tells us 81 people paid to attend and most of them made it. We started arriving at 4:00 with lots of hellos, smiles, handshakes, and hugs. I was the last one out (again) at around 10:00.

The carefully curated music and top notch sound system were never really heard or turned up – people just wanted to talk. There was lots of food and the Lodge managed the bar.

There were times over the last months when I wasn’t sure this was a good idea – only three years since the last – but the many many heartfelt thanks from our friends in the room showed the effort was all worthwhile.

Thanks to Betty, Chris, Bob, Brad, Pat, Joe, Tom, Lydia, Terry and all of the helpers who set things out and packed them up.

Joe has posted photos to an online gallery for the 55th, and he’d like to add yours – contact Joe by email

A few of us gathered at Pat’s on Friday night for homemade sausage rolls and drooled over Roland Ruf’s ‘56 Chev.

Even with a lower door charge than 2022 we have a final surplus of $717. Pat will save it for next time – 2030?

Of the 320 names in our master list, 50 have died, 150 have (hopefully valid) emails, 112 are in the ‘Cowichan Senior Secondary Class of 1970’ Facebook group, 14 have asked for ‘do not contact’, and at last count 68 were ‘lost’ – no contact info. I would appreciate someone to help me maintain the list in its Excel spreadsheet and MailChimp. Please email Bruce.

Longtime friends in our Class of 1970 shared tremendous love, caring and support when I needed assistance on Saturday afternoon thru the wee hours of Sunday morning.

True friends whom I cherish very deeply, with many being lifetime relationships.

Thanks to each and everyone… 💚🙏🏻💚
